About the Opportunity

We are looking for candidates to join our Sources Community Living Services Behavioural Consultation and Support Services Team in Terrace and Prince Rupert, BC. We are seeking engaging and passionate individuals to enhance lives and build meaningful connections in the following roles:  

  • Behaviour Consultants (Terrace)
  • Behaviour Analysts (Terrace)
  • Behaviour Interventionists (Terrace and Prince Rupert)

Reporting to the Manager of Northwest Services you will coordinate, plan, and partake in activities that ensure people’s lives are rich and full. You will be contributing to and actively participating in building a strong team environment, as well as attending and participating in regularly scheduled team meetings.

The scope of each role's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Behaviour Consultants

  • Training other team members (school staff, counsellors, etc.) when required
  • Travelling regionally as required on a regular basis
  • Maintaining a caseload and providing direct services to families referred to the program
  • Conducting assessments and positive behaviour training sessions 

Behaviour Analysts

Clinically supervising and developing plans that incorporate evidence-based intervention in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis based on assessment data, the goals and characteristics of the persons served, and the ecology of the family of the persons served. In addition to this, you will teach/demonstrate strategies in the Intervention Plan and/or Positive Behaviour Support Plan to the persons served, caregivers and Behaviour Interventionists, within the relevant environment(s).

  • Writing accurate session notes and maintaining files
  • Regularly travelling to other communities in the service delivery area as required
  • Liaising with other caregivers and stakeholders on the client’s service team
  • Conducting assessments and positive behaviour training sessions for families
  • Monitoring support strategies for families of children with developmental disabilities

Behaviour Interventionists

  • Assessing client’s needs to ensure exceptional case management and report writing
  • Using teaching methods to target specific program goals and implementing teaching programs and other interventions
  • Collecting/monitoring/recording data and reviewing client progress with analysts, consultants and other team members
  • Developing, teaching, and demonstrating the strategies of positive behaviour support
  • Writing accurate session notes and maintaining files

About You

To qualify, you will need to be a proactive individual with strong communication skills, proficiency in English and a passion for enhancing the lives of people with developmental disabilities. All roles require a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License, driver's abstract and a reliable vehicle. You must also be comfortable using Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems.

The following will be critical to successfully performing each role:

Behaviour Consultants

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or another related field
  • Willingness to travel to other communities within the region, including Haida Gwaii
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with families, or other related experience

Behaviour Analysts

  • Master’s Degree in a human services field (eg. Special Education, Educational Psychology, Behavioural Sciences)
  • At least 2 years experience conducting Behaviour Assessments resulting in the creation of an Intervention Plan or Positive Behaviour Support Plan that incorporates evidence-based intervention in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Certified as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst through the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board

Behaviour Interventionists

  • Experience working with children with autism and experience/ability to manage and respond to aggressive behaviour (preferred)
  • A high school diploma and two years of post-secondary education in a related field (preferred, but not required)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (asset)

  • Behaviour Consultants – starting at $37/hr
  • Behaviour Analysts – starting between $46-50/hr
  • Behaviour Interventionists – starting at $25/hr
